Each month we hold our Club shoots consisting of:
- International Rimfire Benchrest (IRB) This
allows the use of .22LR rimfire rifles. The total maximum weight of the
rifle must not exceed 6.35kg (14lb) and the scope power is unlimited.
The match is shot at 50m for score, with a 25-bull target being shot
over 20 minutes from the bench. A match comprises two targets.
IRB is affiliated with the World Benchrest Shooting Federation (WBSF),
which manages Benchrest at the world level and of which Australia was a
founding member. The WBSF now includes more than 30 member
countries. Typically shot on the 1st Sunday of the month.
- BR30
is a 50 metre .22 rimfire benchrest target
shooting discipline, which is similar to International Rimfire
Benchrest (IRB) matches, It has a somewhat different set of rules,
including ‘worst edge scoring’ of shots, a tighter time period to
complete shots on target, and a weight penalty for heavy rifles ….
which all goes to make the competition a notoriously difficult but
never the less a fun one. Our matches consist of 2
targets.
Typically shot on the 2nd Sunday of the month.
- Fly Shoot.
The discipline includes Rimfire and
Centrefire matches shot at 200 yards and 500m respectively. Each match
comprises 3 targets at each distance plus a "warmer", with the
target having a ‘fly’ 30mm in size as the X-ring and scoring rings
around it. Fly Shoot is a unique discipline as both the size of the
groups and scores count towards a shooter’s final result. It is best to
try to keep the five-shot group as close to the fly as possible for a
maximum score. Typically shot on the 4th Sunday of the
month and our twilight 200yd rimfire event at 6:00pm on the 2nd
Wedenesday of the month
- Shotgun is run every third Sunday with first shot at
10am, and the 1st and 3rd Wednesday evening at 6:00pm. Double barrel shotguns are used for a variety of disiplines,
including DTL (single or double barrel), Continental and Double Rise. A
round consists of 25 targets for DTL and Continental and 15 pairs for
Double rise. Generally most people shoot two to four rounds, and
shooting ends at around 1pm. The club offers a relaxed shooting
experience without expensive nominations and prizes. Instead shooters
compete against themselves and bragging rights of obtaining a perfect
score.
-
Pistol is shot every Wednesday from 1pm, usually precision. This is
30 shots per target in groups of 5 shots
with a time factor of 2.5minutes per 5 shots. We also shoot on the
first Saturday of the month, currently starting at 8.30am for air
pistol then at 10am for rimfire and centrefire on the 25 metre and 50
metre range for those who want a bit more of a challenge. The
Saturday morning shoot is also good for those who cannot make
Wednesdays because of the work or other commitments
